In March, I wrote to inform you, through the President’s Message, on the retirement of Rev Peter Lin as President of the seminary. Today, I am delighted to inform you that the Board has invited Deacon Peter Tang as Honorary Interim Managing Director to stand in the gap. At the same time, the President Search Committee (led by Mr Seck Wai Kwong) continues its work in the search for the next President. Until the onboarding of the new President, Deacon Peter Tang will be vested with the President’s authority and spend two days a week physically in the seminary.

Deacon Peter Tang is no stranger to the Baptist community. He was the Executive Director of the Singapore Baptist Convention from 2006 to 2015. He served as its chairman from 2018 to 2020. Under his capable leadership and labour of love, he and a few others cast the vision of a Baptist Centre—a permanent place to house both the seminary and the Convention office. This vision became a reality in 2012 as Peter galvanised the Baptist community to acquire 1023 Upper Serangoon Road as our permanent home.
